A fire of revolutionary struggle and demands for justice have swept the Arab world. Corrupt regimes have held their people in poverty without any of the basic freedoms. They have used police repression, media blackouts, and torture to keep their people in chains, but finally the people have had enough and are breaking those chains.
We must stand with them. It may seem hard to contribute across these vast distances. However, we're asking people to take action to show solidarity we those students, workers, and families struggling for their freedom. Please wear a red and white keffiyeh for as long as the riots and revolutions continue. Yet, it's not enough just to make a fashion statement. Please promise to talk to at least two people each day about the ongoing struggles. Finally, the United States has continued to support many of these corrupt regimes with economic and military aid. We will let you know about any upcoming actions or events to help put pressure on our government to support the growth of democracy in the region.
